Photo of 3 wind turbines and a rainbow courtesy of US Department of EnergyThe focus and mission of Solar-Wind Electric Utilities, Inc. is to build renewable energy cooperatives by implementing alternate forms of energy such as solar and wind generation. Electric utility generation can be produced in a more economic way, bringing new opportunities to agricultural producers and small business in rural communities.

Solar-Wind Electric Utilities Inc. is the result of five years of research and field study (of solar energy systems). Site studies implementing solar and wind devices, were conducted throughout the United States, Argentina, and Ecuador, South America. Theoretic design systems are observed from concept to field application, in remote jungle sites and modern urban locations.

Renewable energy is not a new concept. While the United States had an opportunity to become the world leader in renewable energy resources, it didn't occur. Instead, the focus remained on an "oil based" energy system with little interest in alternative sources.

Rising fuel cost and dependence on foreign oil supply has caused our nation to reconsider renewable resources.

Our nation is now addressing the need to shift our national energy policy. One element of change is the implementation and national mandate of renewable energy.
The rate of change is focused and comparable to that which the government exercised in the original Rural Electrification Act of the 1930's. Small rural business and rural agriculture producers have an unprecedented opportunity to participate as these policy changes occur. Kansas passed a Renewable Energy Act in 2003 allowing for development of renewable energy electric co-operatives. In conjunction with The Federal Energy Act of 2005, it is now possible for small producers to provide wholesale electrical energy to public utilities, thus creating a new potential revenue source for rural Kansas.
