Is ice build up a problem?
No, During and fater an ice storm, the blades are designed to slow so they are only
getting a few revolutions per minute allowing the ice time to melt and not to be thrown off. While it melts the ice normally falls straight down to the base of the tower.
Are the towers climbable and safe?
Proper precautions are taken to make sure that only qualified people have access to the tower. Before climbing the towers to service them, one should be sure to have the proper hand-holds and foot-holds; one should also have the right gear. Some of the towers can be lowered forr maintenance needs.
What do we provide?
We provide solar panels for inststallation on the roofs of houses; we provide small utility windmills, and we provide these renewable resources to help save our environment.
Where can I learn more about the systems and the need?
On a corresponding page we offer references to the systems. The sites have complete explanations on how the systems work. They also give you an opportunity to learn more about our environment and the need for improvement.
How does this save us money?
When excess energy is gained, it is stored for later use. You can earn credit from your electric company by using the excess energy to support your neighboring structures around you.
How do I know if my site is windy enough for a wind turbine to actually work?
We can get a reasonable estimate of the windiness of a site from its location. There is a database which gives an estimate of annual mean wind speeds at 1km intervals all over the United States for heights of 10, 25, and 40.
How much space do I need for the turbine?
Ideally, the turbine should be sited as far away as possible from building and trees that block the wind and cause turbulence. As a guide, the wind turbine should be about twice the size of the objects in front of it.
Can the turbine be re-sited if I move?
Yes, provided the site is suitable. It will cost to dismantle and put back together.
Can lighting be a problem?
Yes, lightning does occur and cause damage. The towers have limited protection against lightning. Full protection can be applied but isn't worth it, unless the turbine is in a place where lightning frequently strikes.
Can I mount the turbines on my roof?
Generally no. It depends on the size of the system.
Do we have plenty of suppliers to establish this business?
Yes, we have more than one with plenty to go around to the consumer.
