Photo of Wind turbine array in Ainsworth, Nebraska

Listed below are some of the advantages of using alternative energy resouces. We discuss the two main energy saving devices: the solar array and the wind turbine.

Implementing these devices may be easiser than you think. Contact us and we will provide you with all the information and expertice required to have your alternate energy source up and running.

Photovoltaic Panels

Solar panels are a large group of connected solar cells. Although each solar cell provides a relatively small amount of power, many solar cells spread over a large area can provide enough power to be useful.

When light strikes the PV panel, some of the photons are absorbed by the silicon layers. The photons cause the electrons to be released from the silicon crystal. Those collected electrons are routed through an external circuit, providing the power to the electrical system attached to the panels.

Summary

The panels last at least thirty years with a twenty to thirty year warranty. Designed to withstand anything the environment has to offer.

  • Artic Cold

  • Desert Heat

  • Tropical Humidity

  • Winds up to 125 mph

Photovoltaic Panel Benefits

  • No emissions

  • The energy can be stored or fed to the grid.

  • There is more than enough available to meet our electricity needs.

  • Solar collection equipment is unobtrusive and is installed on already existing structures.

  • Solar panels are completely silent.

Wind Turbines

A wind turbine works the opposite of a fan. Instead of using electricity to make wind like a fan, wind turbinesare used to make electricity. The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, that connects to a generator and makes electricity.

Most wind turbines have two or three blades. They have a disc brake, which can be applied mechanically, electrically, or hydraulically to stop the rotor in emergencies. They have a rotor which is the blades and the hub.

Wind Turbine Benefits:

  • No emissions

  • The energy can be stored or fed to the utility grid.

  • There is more than enough to meet our electricity needs.

  • When ice builds up, the blades are designed to slow.

  • The turbines will work through storms.

  • Low maintenance
